As our Commis Chef, you’ll report directly to the Chef De Cuisine, working in a vibrant, hands-on environment that emphasises flawless product execution, safety, and creativity.

A few of your responsibilities
- Support or lead the assigned section as directed by the Chef De Cuisine and provide training to junior staff members
- Assist with fundamental cooking and food preparation tasks
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations
- Complete all duties in line with company and statutory hygiene requirements
- Meet requirements for consistency and high quality in a fast-paced environment
What are we looking for
- Culinary School Graduate. Received apprenticeship training in commercial cookery
- Proven experience working the wok station with speed, precision, and consistency in a busy kitchen environment
- Proficiency with diverse food preparation techniques and cooking equipment
- Successfully completed a Commercial Cookery Apprenticeship, gaining comprehensive knowledge of food preparation, particularly in café, hotel, or high-volume settings, along with strong communication skills and a solid understanding of relevant liquor laws
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays

You are passionate and creative, with strong wok skills and a willingness to share your expertise to guide and support team members new to Food Quarter. With excellent communication skills, you thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with colleagues, management, and interacting with customers. You bring a proactive, positive attitude to every shift and are committed to delivering consistently high standards.
Your role will be pivotal to Food Quarter’s success at The Star Sydney.
