Environmental Services Manager

Compass Group Australia will deliver essential support services at the new Footscray Hospital, one of Victoria’s largest health infrastructure projects. We will provide vital services, including patient services, environmental services, food, security, help desk, and more. As a public hospital with clinical services provided by Western Health, this state-of-the-art facility will play a key role in supporting the community—be part of something bigger and help shape the future of healthcare in Victoria.

THE POSITION

  • Oversee hospital cleaning operations, ensuring compliance with health and infection control regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections and develop waste management programs aligned with environmental laws and sustainability goals.
  • Ensure safe handling of hazardous and bio-medical waste, pest control programs, and sustainable practices like water and energy conservation.
  • Maintain and manage cleaning equipment, chemicals, and protective gear according to safety protocols.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints, report concerns, and present regular performance reports.
  • Lead and train the environmental services team, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, safety regulations, and continuous improvement in service standards.

THE PERSON  

  • Proven experience in environmental services management, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control standards, waste management regulations, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Leadership experience in supervising and developing a team.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety standards related to environmental services.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide, or be willing to obtain, a National Police check clearance and a Working with Children Check
