Commis Chef - Part-time

$30.07 per hour + 11.5% Super

• Part time- 25 hrs (Tues / Wed / Thurs need to be available)
• Based in Sydney CBD
• Chefs cook with us; chefs develop with us!

We’re seeking a Part Time Commis Chef to join our corporate hospitality team. This role offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills while preparing food for events. It’s part-time, Monday to Friday.

The Position

• Prepare, cook, and present food to a high standard.
• Receive, store, and manage kitchen supplies.
• Apply catering control principles and assist with event or function planning.
• Contribute to menu development to meet special dietary and cultural needs.
• Take responsibility for ordering and stock control to maintain kitchen supplies.
• Clean and maintain kitchen premises, ensuring high hygiene standards.
• Plan, prepare, and display a buffet for events.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Follow all Compass health, safety, and security protocols.
• Use safe manual handling and food handling practices.
• Provide a warm, friendly, and welcoming service style to customers.
• Perform additional duties as required by the Supervisor or Manager.

The Person

• Ability to take direction and work as part of a team.
• Proven experience working in a busy and fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Strong knife skills and proficiency in food preparation.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn in a dynamic, high-energy setting.
• Exceptional personal presentation as you will represent the company to customers.
• A proactive, positive attitude and the ability to thrive under pressure.
• Compliance with legislation, including a valid Police check (as part of the recruitment process).
