Chartwells provides bespoke fresh food solutions that are unique in the market across independent schools and universities. We are passionate about the role we play in supporting the physical and emotional well-being of students. 

This is a dynamic and varied role for a passionate Chef Manager. From daily food offerings across our Retail, through to Functions and Events, no two days will ever be the same! In this role you will showcase your talents in a centralised production kitchen with state-of-the-art facilities, managing a strong culinary brigade. 

Key Duties 

  • Plan, supervise, monitor and evaluate the food production and menu-based catering 
  • Successfully managing, mentoring and developing your culinary team including kitchen hands, cooks and chefs 
  • Deliver to our client's high expectations of a premium experience 
  • Champion the significance and accurate implementation of allergy awareness controls 
  • Maintaining a high standard of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness 

The Person 

  • An unwavering love of food and the art of cooking 
  • 2 years' experience managing a busy kitchen
  • Experience in leading, mentoring and developing teams 
  • Experience in stock control, ordering, management of food costs, and budgeting 
  • Passionate about healthy and nutritious eating 
  • Have a genuine passion for using sustainable practices and local produce
