About the Role
As a Patient Transport Trolley Technician, you will be responsible for the scheduled inspection, servicing, repair, and maintenance of patient transport trolleys to ensure they remain safe, compliant, and fit for clinical use. Services are undertaken to manufacturer recommendations and hospital maintenance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative maintenance inspections and servicing of patient transport trolleys
- Assess trolley frames, side rails, locking mechanisms, and structural components for wear, damage, corrosion, and operational effectiveness
- Inspect and maintain castors, steering systems, brakes, tyres, and locking functions
- Check operation of manual and automatic control systems where fitted
- Inspect mattresses for damage or contamination and report replacement requirements
- Maintain backrest, tilt, head-raising, and positioning mechanisms
- Inspect IV poles, cylinder holders, buffers, pedals, and accessories for safe operation
- Perform minor adjustments, lubrication, cleaning, and repairs as required
- Inspect battery-powered trolley components and identify replacement requirements
- Complete maintenance records, inspections, and service reports accurately
- Liaise with hospital stakeholders to ensure equipment availability and reliability
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and asset lifecycle management
About You
Skills & Experience
- Experience in equipment maintenance, mechanical servicing, healthcare equipment maintenance, or asset management
- Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding capability
- Experience conducting preventative maintenance inspections
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and manufacturer recommendations
- Experience completing maintenance reports and service documentation
- Commitment to safety, quality, and customer service
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
Desirable
- Experience maintaining hospital equipment, patient transport trolleys, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, or similar healthcare assets
- Experience in healthcare, hospitals, aged care, or critical environments
- Trade qualification in Mechanical, Engineering, Maintenance, Fitting & Machining, or a related field
- Experience using CMMS systems such as QFM, Pronto, SAP, Maximo, or similar
- Understanding of healthcare compliance requirements and asset management principles
