Join the team responsible for maintaining one of Australia's most complex healthcare facilities. As a Maintenance Plumber at Queensland Children's Hospital, you'll work on critical hydraulic infrastructure that directly supports patient care, infection prevention, clinical operations, and essential hospital services.
This is more than a traditional maintenance plumbing role. You'll gain exposure to specialised healthcare systems, advanced water treatment infrastructure, steam sterilisation services, medical support systems, and healthcare compliance requirements within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

About the Role:
As a Maintenance Plumber, you will be responsible for delivering planned, reactive, and corrective maintenance across the Queensland Children's Hospital precinct. You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of hydraulic systems that support patient care and hospital operations.
Perform planned, preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance on plumbing and hydraulic systems.
Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to critical building services infrastructure.
Complete statutory inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance activities.
Maintain accurate maintenance records using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Participate in after-hours call-out and emergency response activities as required.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site procedures, Australian Standards, legislative requirements, and healthcare compliance obligations.
Support specialist subcontractors undertaking specialist maintenance works.
Identify opportunities to improve asset reliability, efficiency, and system performance.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and asset lifecycle planning.
Assist in maintaining compliance with healthcare water quality management programs, hydraulic statutory requirements, and infection prevention controls.
Support monitoring and maintenance of critical water systems to minimise operational and clinical risk.
Skills & Experience
Trade qualified Plumber with a current QBCC Plumbing Licence including Backflow Prevention and Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) Endorsement
Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence
Experience in commercial, healthcare, industrial, facilities maintenance, or critical infrastructure environments
Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
Experience performing preventative and reactive maintenance
Ability to read and interpret hydraulic drawings, technical manuals, and maintenance procedures
Experience using CMMS platforms such as QFM, SAP, Pronto, Maximo, or similar
Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Excellent communication and customer service skills procedures
