What you’ll be doing: 

The objective of the Senior React Web Developer is to work closely with the technical lead to transform, develop, mentor and train other developers working on our customer facing web applications. The role involves developing full-stack solutions as directed by the product owners of our web products. Using leading development practices and proven technology to support millions of users per month. This will provide additional value to our guests and improve the overall experience that Virgin Australia provides. 

You’ll be great in this role if you have: 

• Extensive experience with rich JavaScript web application frameworks, such as React  
• Solid understanding of frontend technologies 
• Strong skills in core JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, tools experience (Gitlab, Jira, Confluence) 
• Experience in designing, developing and implementing high performance web applications 
• Experience with agile development methodologies 
• Good understanding of responsive design, browser behaviour, accessibility, and compatibility 
• Experience working with design systems and shared component development
• Ability to work under pressure, with minimal guidance and prioritise the handling of multiple activities at any one time
• Degree in a relevant area such as information technology

Desirable skills:  

• Previous experience in “DevOps”, proactively working towards continuous delivery and improvement with the tools available
• Previous airline or aviation experience
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate at all levels with key internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to help new developers understand practice and learn how to be productive in complex systems
• Experience working in an environment with a high workload and competing priorities
• Experience with React full-stack (meta) frameworks such as Next.js, RedwoodJS or Remix
