Who we’re looking for:

As a Product Lead, you spearhead the creation and oversight of innovative products that elevate customer satisfaction and drive profitability. Guiding every phase of the product lifecycle, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to shape Virgin Australia's product portfolio.

Your experience and expertise will inform key decisions, ensuring the delivery of beloved offerings while fostering alignment with commercial goals. With a focus on meticulous planning and stakeholder engagement, you will empower frontline teams to excel, ultimately achieving both commercial success and customer delight.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Understand our vision and strategy to develop and implement product concepts our customers will love.
  • Work collaboratively, both internally and externally, to gather feedback and insights to develop new concepts and improve existing products through the product lifecycle.
  • Ability to communicate product initiatives and changes to key stakeholders.
  • Working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders and within a project schedule and budget.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for products and services and manage 3rd party relationships ongoing to appropriate service levels.
  • Strong commercial analysis and planning, as well as ongoing operational expenditure management.
  • Provide insights and feedback on whether products are performing as intended.
  • Developing product dashboards and reporting to measure campaign success.

 

What you need to be successful:

  • Solid background in product development, or marketing of product with a proven track record of crafting compelling product marketing strategies. 
  • Ability and experience in managing vendors in existing relationships.
  • Experience in evaluating vendor proposals and establishing productive partnerships.
  • Ability to manage products that drive results, meets customer needs in operational and cost-sensitive environments.
  • Commercial instinct and a deep understanding of the customer management process.
  • Analyses various data sources with ease, converting them into measurable and actionable plans.
  • Effective communicator and influencer, adept at stakeholder engagement and negotiation.
  • Proven category experience and understanding of the category review process. 

Please note this is a 12-month opportunity. 

You’ll be great in this role if you:

  • Outstanding track record in product design, development, and delivery – particularly in the FMCG space, ideally in the food and beverage category.  
  • Driven to develop products and programs that are aligned with business strategy and meet customer needs in operational and cost-sensitive environments
  • Flair and capability to analyse data, insights and opportunities and make substantive recommendations
  • Skilled at evaluating vendor proposals, , and maintaining/establishing productive partnerships
  • Ability to manage products that meet customer needs in operational and cost-sensitive environments
  • High energy levels, a (customer) solution-centric mindset, leadership gravitas
  • Strong sense of team and a burning desire to engage with leaders at all levels
  • Adept at communicating with and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Leadership by example and by innovative thinking
