Crew Training Planner

Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. And we’re back (in a big way).

We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. For us, flying is so much more than simply taking off and landing (although we understand that is quite important). It’s about going the extra mile, in the air and on the ground, to create authentic experiences that put our guests firmly at the heart of everything we do.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Cabin Crew Training Planner, you will be essential in coordinating and managing comprehensive training schedules for our Cabin Crew. You will take ownership of the training plans, as well as oversee the management and upkeep of training records and crew qualifications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

This role offers the opportunity to develop specialised expertise in aviation regulations and work closely with key internal and external stakeholders.

As a Cabin Crew Training Planner, you will be responsible for:

  • Manage staff training records to maintain company compliance.
  • Communicate training completions, such as upgrades, to Payroll to update crew pay and allowances.
  • Respond promptly to operational disruptions impacting training schedules, ensuring quick recovery both within and outside the day of operations.
  • Oversee third-party suppliers (e.g., training devices, contract instructors) for effective management and coordination.
  • Participate and provide input into regular meetings (Flight Standards, Cabin Crew Training Standards etc.)
  • Monitor, plan and allocate flight recency.
  • Advise payroll of upgrades and other completed training, which may affect crew pay and allowances.
  • Ensure all rosters are accurate and compliant. High attention to detail is an absolute must.
  • Apply compliance standards across all airline, crew groups, and fleets, considering varying EBA and regulatory requirements across multiple AOCs (Air Operator Certificates).

Who we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated success in a similar Resource Planner, Training Planner or rostering role.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory rules to ensure strict compliance.
  • Ability to apply industrial rules and enterprise agreements, within a large organisation
  • Excellent communication skills with a variety of stakeholders across all levels
  • Experience with resource management systems i.e. Sabre Aircrews, Mint or Geneva; and MS Office in particular Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven problem-solving skills, particularly within the context of a cost and efficiency focused environment.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic and challenging environment.

We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry – including (but not limited to):

  • Discounted flights for you and your loved ones (including $1000 worth of travel credits per year)
  • A flexible, hybrid work style. Work from home or the office, adapt your location to suit your style and needs.
  • One of Brisbane’s most admired head office locations, with South Bank train station, a supermarket, pharmacy, and lunch options downstairs plus a 5-minute walk to the Busway, a rooftop restaurant and onsite gym (with a low membership fee) and South Bank Parklands just across the road
  • Discounts on travel insurance, lounge membership, car hire, accommodation, and experiences worldwide
  • Cheaper hospitality, retail, technology, beauty and wellness services
  • Free counselling and access to a wellbeing app to support your physical, mental, social and financial health.
  • ‘Dress for Your Day’ – enjoy the freedom to wear whatever makes you feel great for the type of work you do and the day you have ahead of you.
