What you'll be doing:
The Senior Integrated Planning Analyst exists within the Strategy & Transformation Division and will support our integrated planning transformation through advanced analytics and optimization. You'll develop and run predictive models and optimization solutions that enable our planning cycles and drive operational efficiency improvements across our network.
Leveraging your analytical expertise and technical skills, you'll create data-driven insights that support Virgin Australia's transition to new planning cycles, moving beyond traditional network design to focus on operational execution excellence. The key responsibilities of this role are to...
- Develop and maintain optimization models for integrated planning processes including roster management, slot allocation, and capacity planning
- Create predictive models to forecast planning parameters and operational outcomes
- Build machine learning models to identify patterns and drivers in planning data
- Conduct advanced financial and operational business case modelling for planning initiatives
- Integrate multiple complex data sources to create comprehensive planning analytics
- Develop automated reporting and monitoring systems for planning metrics
- Create data visualizations and dashboards for planning stakeholders
- Support the development of planning parameters through advanced statistical analysis
- Build optimization models including linear and nonlinear programming
- Collaborate with cross-divisional teams on analytics projects to advance integrated planning capabilities
- Communicate complex analytical concepts in business-relevant terms to stakeholders
You'll be great in this role if you...
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics or similar fields
- 3-4 years' experience in data-heavy Aviation Strategy roles, Advanced Analytics, Operations Research, or Data Science
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with optimization and simulation modelling
- Experience with PowerBI and data visualization tools
- Experience with complex data tools and cloud platforms
- Knowledge of airline economics
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving abilities
- Strong ability to translate business problems into analyses to problem solve
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with large, complex datasets
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborative approach to cross-functional projects
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities

- Advanced degree (Masters/PhD)
- Aviation or transportation industry experience
