Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. We’re on a mission to make flying better than ‘nice’. And to do that, it takes a team of talented people who are passionate about customer experience, doing the right thing always, with a focus on safety – in the air, on the ground and in our workplaces. A team who values real diversity and inclusion, in a big brand with big ambitions.

What you’ll be doing…

As the Maintenance Leader you will be responsible for safety, production, people and leadership. The role is commercially as well as technically focused, realising cost effective results in the production of aircraft maintenance services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Safety first: Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OH&S, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Operational excellence: Deliver production schedules on time and to standard, coordinating manpower, materials, and resources effectively.
  • Leadership: Inspire, coach, and develop your team to ensure they remain engaged, high-performing, and prepared for the future. Play an active role in selecting and onboarding new team members, setting clear expectations, and supporting them to achieve company standards, while addressing performance issues when required.
  • Quality assurance: Monitor maintenance activity and documentation, addressing non-compliance and driving error-prevention strategies, while also ensuring that all equipment is maintained in a safe operating condition and, where appropriate, within scheduled calibration.
  • Reporting and documentation: Promote a collaborative workplace culture while ensuring timesheets and records are accurately maintained and authorised, and that all maintenance activities are properly documented in line with system requirements.
  • Commercial focus: Drive cost efficiencies and ensure effective use of resources while maintaining high standards. Provide ad hoc duties as required in line with company objectives
  • Collaboration: Partner with Engineering and other key stakeholders to achieve operational and business objectives.

What you need to be successful:

  • Supervisory experience and an ability to motivate staff and build a successful and productive team
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage a variety of stakeholders
  • Sound capability to research, problem solve and analyse performance
  • Thorough understanding of the CASA and EASA airworthiness requirements
  • The ability to work on a rotating 4 on 4 off shift pattern (11.4hrs starting at 1100-2224)

Desirable:

  • Experience in a Line or Base Maintenance Management role
