About the role:

Join Alinta Energy as a Senior Contracts Trader, where you'll manage our wholesale energy portfolio while navigating the complexities of the energy market. This role is pivotal in developing innovative trading strategies, identifying financial opportunities, and building robust relationships with key counterparties—all within the framework of ethical conduct and regulatory compliance.

What you'll do:

• Manage hedge and trade book exposures, focusing on electricity and renewables.
• Develop and implement pricing and trading strategies to optimise portfolio performance.
• Maintain clear communication with counterparties and brokers, ensuring contractual obligations are met.
• Stay informed on government and regulatory obligations, supporting compliance initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance trading operations.

Your experience:

• Degree in engineering, business/commerce, finance, mathematics, or a quantitative discipline.
• 3-7 years of experience in wholesale energy markets or relevant fields.
• Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel modeling and VBA coding.
• Proven ability to develop and implement trading strategies and risk management products.
• Excellent communication skills, with a track record of effective negotiation and relationship management.
