About the role
In this role you will lead the development and implementation of robust data solutions and architectures to drive Alinta Energy's data and AI initiatives. Reporting to the Data Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of talented data professionals, fostering collaboration and innovation within the Data & AI Platforms team. This pivotal role will shape the company's data strategy, ensuring the seamless integration of data pipelines, data governance frameworks, and cutting-edge AI/ML models.

What you’ll do
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Architect, design, and implement scalable and fault-tolerant data platforms and pipelines.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data solutions.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in data engineering, data governance, and data quality assurance.
- Leverage cloud technologies and modern data architectures to enable data-driven decision-making.
- Champion the integration of AI/ML models into production systems for real-world impact.
Your experience
- Proven experience as a lead data engineer or a similar senior data engineering role.
- Extensive knowledge of data engineering principles, tools, and technologies.
- Experience with Databricks & cloud technologies (AWS/GCP/Azure) is essential
- Strong proficiency in programming languages like Python, SQL, and data processing frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A track record of delivering high-quality, scalable, and reliable data solutions.
Please note this role requires Australian or New Zealand Citizenship, or Australia Permanent Residency.
This role is best suited to a proactive individual who has experience working within a complex and deadline-driven environment, and who thrives on driving innovation and leading teams to success.
