Alinta Energy is one of Australia’s biggest energy retailers, generators and developers with over 1.1 million customers. Australia’s energy system is undergoing the biggest transformation in its history and we’re right there with it. We’re investing in and developing large-scale renewables and storage projects as part of our ongoing effort to provide our customers with reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.
About the role
As a Desktop Support Analyst, you will provide high-quality technical support for our Sydney office and remote power generation sites. Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, you’ll be responsible for the specification, installation, and testing of desktop systems, applications, and peripherals—ensuring everything aligns with established standards and best practices.
A key focus of this role is delivering a seamless and positive experience for our end users, so strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships are essential. You’ll also play a part in maintaining and testing our national video conferencing infrastructure and associated equipment. This is a hands-on role that requires initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to solve problems independently with minimal supervision.
As this is an in-person support role, you'll be based in the office four days a week, with the flexibility to work from home one day per week.
Why you’ll love working here
We’re a welcoming bunch who put our energy into being the best company we can be. For us, this means shared respect, great communication between teams, acting on our ideas, and looking out for each other’s wellbeing. There are plenty of great perks, from flexible working to a long list of exclusive Alinta benefits.
What you’ll do
- Process incoming incident and service requests received through ServiceNow, phone, and Microsoft Teams chat
- Provide prompt and courteous technical support, ensuring timely and effective resolution of end user issues
- Work closely with our managed service partner and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve desktop hardware and software issues
- Deliver training and onboarding support to new and existing staff on the use of hardware and software
- Develop and maintain clear documentation of support activities, solutions, and user guides
Your experience
- Previous experience in an ITIL environment, with 2+ years working in a Service Desk or Desktop Support role, with hands-on use of ServiceNow and automation tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships, understand end-user needs, and deliver positive outcomes
- Solid knowledge of current IT systems and technologies, including the Microsoft suite of products and operating systems, Local Area Networks, Active Directory, and Group Policies
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to plan and manage tasks while adhering to defined policies, processes, and procedures
- Prior experience working with third-party vendors or solution partners
Please note this role requires full working rights within Australia.
This role would be best suited to someone who is both technically minded and has a natural flair for building strong relationships with multiple end users across all organisational levels of the business.
