Boral is embarking on an exciting 3-year program to upgrade its core applications, streamline its application footprint, and implement next-generation systems that will drive our digital and automation efforts.
As part of this transformation, we are looking for a skilled permanent fixed-term Data Architect to play a pivotal role in analyzing and architecting Boral’s data, driving data management, storage, and analytics initiatives, and establishing a data governance framework that supports our ambitious digitization goals. Based in North Ryde, this role will work closely with the Enterprise Architecture practice to ensure the alignment of data architecture with overall company strategies.
Your day will involve:
- Define and design Boral’s current and target data landscape, ensuring it aligns with organisation goals.
- Contribute to the establishment of an Enterprise Data Strategy that drives data innovation and operational excellence.
- Shape and define Boral’s Data Governance practice, setting up frameworks that ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Provide expert consultancy and support to the program initiatives and Data/Analytics teams on data architecture, strategy, and best practices.
- Ensure alignment of data architecture with roadmaps and principles established by the Enterprise Architecture practice.
- Design end-to-end solutions that span from source systems to end-user reporting and analytics interfaces.
- Create design patterns for various categories of reporting and analytical requirements to support business insights.
- Develop ETL and Master Data Management strategies with a focus on automation and reusability to optimize processes.
- Present solution options and drive them through the Solution Review Forum governance process.
What are we looking for?
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Data or Data Solution Architecture roles.
- Proven experience in data modeling (E-R, dimensional, and Data Vault).
- Expertise in both traditional data warehouse technologies (e.g., SQL Server) and modern cloud-based platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Azure Synapse).
- Strong understanding of data governance best practices and supporting technologies.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, from business to technical, and translate requirements into data solutions.
- Ability to develop and present Architecture Design documents through governance processes and to executive-level stakeholders.
- Proficient in tools like PowerPoint, Visio, and Confluence to document and communicate complex technical solutions effectively.
