An opportunity has arisen for a Design Draftsperson to join our Capital Projects Team. This role is primarily accountable for investigating, proposing, design drafting and detail drafting of process plants & mechanical systems for engineering projects to enable completion of projects to the engineer design brief and Australian Standards to support Boral’s Good to Great Journey.
You will support the design and delivery of new capital equipment across Boral’s construction materials portfolio including equipment for quarries, concrete plants, asphalt plants and cement facilities including alternative fuel systems.
Reporting to the Principal Mechanical Engineer, this is a permanent, full-time opportunity based at Berrima NSW.
Your day will involve:
- Gathering relevant information from clients, site visits, equipment suppliers and engineers to prepare proposals, layout drawings, design calculations (mechanical elements, machines, structures), detail drawings and estimates for construction
- Preparing time and costs (budgets) expended on Drawing Office functions
- Utilising the 3D drafting packages to ensure the satisfactory outcomes of design drafting exercises as required by the project and the Engineer, maintaining a high standard of drawing quality and output
- Regular reporting to the Engineer on drafting progress
- At times, taking site measurements, carry out necessary surveying to assist in the preparation of drawings and check drawings “For Approval” or “For Construction”
- Assisting the Drawing Office Team in the development of Quality Assurance and the update of Drawing Office Procedures.
What are we looking for?
- Demonstrated experience with 3D Drafting, 3D Scanning and the use of AutoCAD design software
- Basic knowledge of process equipment, handling system and operating conditions
- Experience in design of industrial projects
- Experience in checking Contractor’s solution
- Experience with typical design problems of old equipment
- Good knowledge of office software like Word, Excel, MS Project
- Cement Industry exposure.
