Your next opportunity:  

Reporting to the General Manager, this role will be responsible for managing quarry operations in Regional Victoria. This critical leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring strategies for quarry operations. You will be focused on improving operational performance, enhancing product quality, minimizing cost and exceeding customer service expectations, whilst always ensuring a safe working environment.

This role will oversee the responsibility of 6 quarries, whilst also overseeing Drill and Blast operations across the quarries with travel required to these sites.

Your Day will Involve:

  • Manage the region’s operations, revenue, cost and profit performance in accordance with financial and operational metrics. 
  • Manage the development and implementation of an overall quarrying development plan for the Quarries business, ensuring the long-term sustainability of our quarry infrastructure and resources 
  • Provide support and expert knowledge to the Quarry Managers and Supervisors to assist them in operating their quarries at an optimum level. 
  • Identify, lead and manage key improvement projects for the quarrying business, promoting a consistency of standards in the quarrying business. 
  • Manage customer accounts and key relationships to understand customer needs, and deliver superior service and performance, including to identify long term business development opportunities to capture value for Boral.
  • Develop annual budgets and ensure resources are applied to deliver budgeted cost, production and sales targets.  
  • Oversee the effective and efficient use of quarrying assets and assist with determining the most appropriate placement of capital expenditure. 
  • Develop and control expenditure within agreed budget guidelines and report on variations. 
  • Promote and uphold a safe working culture and environment across the region

What We’re Looking For:

  • Demonstrated experience in an operational leadership role within an industrial business such as within construction, manufacturing, logistics or mining industries.
  • High degree of financial literacy and commercial acumen with exposure to the development and control of operational budgets.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety and success with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements (preferred) 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cost control, business improvement, OH&S, Environment and Industrial Relations matters 
  • Actively managing the industrial and employee relations activities in the business to ensure a fair and equitable outcome in dealings for all parties
