The details:

  • Contract (4 years)
  • TRP from $240,783 pa (inclusive of 12% super and leave loading) 
  • 5 weeks annual leave 
  • Location: Narangba

Help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow by taking on a brand new position as our Manager of Civil Services! You'll be building and managing a multifunctional workforce consisting of operators, labourers, engineers and other technical professionals working within our Construction, Roads and Drains, Technical Operations and Technical Services teams. 

Reporting to the General Manager of Operations, we're looking for someone to contribute expert knowledge and advice - ensuring the appropriate development, implementation and management of Council's operations strategy. This will include: 

  • providing and developing strong leadership and professional direction to the relevant coordinators and team members
  • monitoring the operational and financial performance and providing relevant information and advice to Council 
  • driving organisational change to ensure efficient delivery of services to both internal and external stakeholders
  • working with the general manager to develop and implement departmental annual operating business and resourcing plans, annual operations budget and scope of works for planned and cyclic works portfolios
  • providing strategic leadership and direction in the development of frameworks for a whole of life asset focus and undertaking detailed analysis of asset related information to provide advice/reports and recommendations for approval
  • ensuring all compliance, safety, environmental and legislative/statutory requirements are being met in the work being delivered 
  • remaining up to date with any factors which may impact Council's existing services or create new opportunities for improvement

About you

Ideally your application will have demonstrated experience leading large, multi disciplinary operational workforces with a focus on delivering civil works. You will have advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrated experience building productive relationships at all levels and advanced problem solving skills to successfully identify core issues and develop solutions to implement with a logical and systematic approach.

You'll also have advanced knowledge and experience in the development and delivery of planned and cyclical operational maintenance programs and services, demonstrated experience in managing and growing the capability of a team and demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategy and policy and leading organisational change while balancing competing priorities.
