City of Moreton Bay are proud to be partnering with the Queensland Government in the Skilling Queenslanders for Work First Start Traineeship program.

This program aims to provide young people and disadvantaged job seekers with an opportunity to join our team for 12 - 18 months, developing new skills and experience whilst gaining meaningful paid employment. Additionally, this program will include the completion of nationally recognised qualification.

To be eligible for this program, you will identify as one of the below job seekers:

  • Young People (Aged 15–24 Years)
  • Long-Term Unemployed Job Seekers
  • Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander People
  • Mature-Age Job Seekers (45 Years Or Older)
  • Migrants And Refugees From Culturally And Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds
  • People With A Disability
  • Displaced Workers
  • Women Re-Entering The Workforce
  • Veterans And Ex-Service Personnel and their families

The details:

  • Appointment will be for the duration of your studies (12-18 months)
  • 9 day fortnight
  • $40,182 pa + 12% super (level 2) (55%)
    Pay will increase to $54,794 pa after 9 months OR when half of your study is complete
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Location: Multiple positions available at Burpengary & Albany Creek

Join City of Moreton Bay as a Trainee Library Assistant, and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.

As a Trainee Library Assistant you will have the opportunity to provide library customers with positive experiences whilst undertaking the requirements of the training program. You will also:

  • Assist the public with navigating library catalogues, computers, technology and self service options
  • Process customer loans, returns, reservation requests and payments
  • Assist with the promotion and preparation of library activities and programs
  • Undertake routine library tasks such as shelving and collection maintenance 

Our Trainees will be based at either Burpengary or Albany Creek Library.

About you

You will have a genuine interest in working in a community library and the aptitude and ability to complete a Certificate III in Library and Information Services.  

You may have experience within a customer focused environment and the computer and interpersonal skills to keep up to date with emerging technologies and provide quality, friendly service to a wide range of patrons. 

Successful candidates will also need to obtain a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) prior to commencement and may be required to work any 5 out of 7 days as part of the ordinary hours.
