Join our team as a Roads Engineer and play a key role in delivering engineering support, while managing the planning and delivery of capital and operational programs. This role focuses on road related assets and provides a mix of technical, advisory and project management responsibilities.
You will be responsible for:
- Acting as a key point of contact for operational maintenance matters, providing advice, innovative solutions and problem solving support for road and civil issues
- Undertaking engineering design, technical reviews, procurement activities, project management and delivery of road infrastructure renewal projects, contributing to effective project and construction programming
- Managing project tasks that support the delivery of Council’s capital and operational infrastructure programs, projects and services
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, offering technical guidance with a focus on whole of life asset costs and sustainable outcomes
- Working both independently and as part of a team to oversee contract works, ensuring compliance with specifications, requirements and scheduled timeframes
- Monitoring and reporting on project and program performance, including financial, quality, timing and safety indicators
- Providing engineering mentorship to university students within the team, supporting capability development and knowledge sharing

About you
You are a proactive and solutions focused civil engineering professional with experience in delivering road related infrastructure projects. You’re confident working across design, project management and stakeholder coordination, and you enjoy applying your technical expertise to improve asset performance and community outcomes.
You bring a blend of strong analytical ability, clear communication skills and practical on site awareness, allowing you to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team. You’re committed to delivering high quality engineering outcomes while ensuring safety, compliance and value for money across all projects.
You’ll bring:
- Experience in civil engineering, preferably within road or transport infrastructure environments
- The ability to provide technical advice, problem solving and practical solutions for road and civil maintenance issues
- Strong skills in design review, project management, documentation and contractor coordination
- A collaborative communication style and the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, track performance and meet delivery timeframes
- A commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
- An interest in supporting emerging engineers and providing mentorship where required
Mandatory Requirements:
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia
- Construction Induction Card
- Current C Class driver’s licence
