The Details:
- Permanent Full Time | 9 day fortnight
- $72,807 pa (ie. $36.84/hour) - incl. industry and uniform allowance + 12% super (level 5) - with a 4.5% increase coming 1 July
- 76 hour fortnight

As a Multi Skilled Plant Operator, you will play a key role within the Roads and Drains team, contributing to the delivery of civil maintenance activities across the regional road network. This position is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient operation of medium-sized plant, with a strong focus on roller operations for unsealed/gravel road maintenance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating a roller as the primary item of plant for road maintenance activities
- Operating additional plant and equipment within your licence and competency (e.g. excavators, skid steers, graders, backhoes)
- Supporting civil maintenance works including road and drainage activities
- Undertaking truck driving duties as required
- Performing daily pre-start checks and routine inspections on plant and equipment, and reporting defects promptly
- Completing basic administrative tasks such as records, checklists, and documentation
- Maintaining plant, equipment, and PPE in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and Council procedures
- Assisting with general labouring tasks as directed by the Crew Leader
- Working collaboratively within a team to meet operational schedules and deadlines
- Communicating effectively with team members and members of the public where required
- Actively identifying hazards and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment
- Contributing to a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment while supporting civil maintenance activities
A strong focus on safety is essential, including adherence to Council policies and procedures, conducting thorough inspections, and promptly reporting any hazards, defects, or operational issues.

About you
You bring recent experience operating a roller in road maintenance environments, ideally with exposure to unsealed/gravel road construction or maintenance. You demonstrate strong capability operating a range of medium plant used in civil works, along with a commitment to safety and teamwork.
To be successful, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience operating medium plant in civil construction or maintenance environments
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to shared outcomes
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to follow instructions, read plans, and interact with colleagues and the public
- A proactive and safety-focused approach to all tasks
Mandatory requirements
- Current Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver Licence
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Certification to operate a Roller (LR)
- Certification to operate at least one additional plant item (e.g. Backhoe, Grader, Excavator, Loader, or Skid Steer)
