The Details:

  • Permanent Full Time | 9 day fortnight 
  • $78,197 pa  (ie. $39.57/hour) - incl. industry and uniform allowance + 12% super (level 6) 
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Site based with a home depot location of Caboolture - please note, whilst this position has an allocated home depot location, the work will be based across numerous of Council's stockpile sites within the area and our team members will start and finish on these sites. Travel allowance is applicable. 

Work as part of our Stockpile Sites and Recycling team, undertaking plant operations to support the stockpiling and recycling of materials across Council's operational sites.

This role is focused on the operation of a front end loader, with occasional use of an excavator and/or backhoe where licensed, competent and required. You'll also contribute to site maintenance activities and support the safe and efficient operation of stockpile and recycling sites.

Key responsibilities include:

  • operating a range of plant and equipment, primarily a front end loader, to move materials around site and load trucks
  • operating an excavator and/or backhoe where licenced and required
  • undertaking basic labouring tasks to install and maintain environmental controls and site infrastructure
  • completing daily pre-start checks and routine inspections on plant and equipment and reporting defects promptly
  • completing basic administrative tasks such as records, checklists and documentation
  • identifying hazards and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment
  • building positive working relationships with team members and stakeholders
  • participating in after hours and emergency response activities where required

About you

Ideally you have experience operating plant in a similar operational environment and are confident working around multiple items of machinery while maintaining a strong focus on safety.

You'll also bring:

  • strong experience operating loaders, excavators and/or backhoes
  • experience working safely on controlled sites with multiple plant items and machinery
  • an understanding of environmental risks and controls
  • the ability to complete basic administrative tasks and maintain records
  • sound written, verbal and numerical communication skills
  • the ability to work effectively as part of a broader team

Qualifications

  • Current truck licence (minimum HR - heavy rigid)
  • Construction Induction Card (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
  • Certification to operate a Front End Loader (LL) and;
  • Certification to operate either an Excavator (LE) and/or Backhoe/Loader (LB)
