About the area
The UWA Coastal and Offshore Research Laboratory (CORL) conducts world-class fundamental and applied research in the areas of hydrodynamics, fluid-structure interactions and sediment transport processes applicable to offshore and coastal engineering systems.
About the opportunity
- Collaborate with other technicians and academic leads on the design and preparation of physical model experiments related to coastal and offshore research, providing technical expertise in construction, setup, and data capture solutions
- You will assist or lead the facility maintenance, physical model construction, and operation of equipment and the collection, processing, and analysis of data.
About you
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent competency.
- Substantial experience taking precise scientific measurements and familiarity with relevant laboratory instrumentation or equivalent.
- Relevant knowledge and experience in IT, networking and computing related to experimental data acquisition.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose, repair, or fabricate equipment and operate equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, etc. Preferably with experience in working safely with common workshop machinery and power tools (e.g. drill press, milling machine, circular saws, routers) with various materials.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in safe work practices and developing risk management frameworks.
