  • Base salary range: $112,114 – $122,544 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Brand, Marketing and Recruitment (BMR) division exists for the purpose of showcasing the best of UWA, ultimately enhancing reputation and driving student recruitment.  The division consolidates all marketing, communications and future student related activity into one team, enabling efficiency and effectiveness gains for the University.

Functions delivered by the BMR division include organisational wide brand strategy and management, strategic marketing planning, communications activities (advertising, marketing, content, media, public relations); digital communication, reputation management, recruitment planning, business development, schools engagement, contact centre operations and admissions services.  The range of functions delivered are all targeted at managing the University’s reputation and achieving its revenue goals. 

The Corporate Communications team within BMR exists to deliver professional, strategic and best practice communications and engagement activities for the University, as the lead group for the University’s engagement with the media, staff and key internal and external stakeholders. This is facilitated through the provision of strategic advice and the effective management of a range of communication channels.

About the opportunity

  • Deliver the University’s media strategy, including planning and liaison through managing media relations and providing high-level media and issues management advice.
  • Produce a range of high-quality news and media products.
  • Foster positive interaction with the media at local, national and international levels.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent competency in journalism or closely related disciplines.
  • Substantial relevant media experience in a variety of media settings (e.g. print, broadcast or digital).
  • Superior writing and editing skills for various kinds of communication purposes and demonstrated expertise in the preparation and production of news publications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with media representatives, external stakeholders and University staff at all levels, including Executive.
  • Knowledge of strategic use of social media platforms including X, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube and ability to upload and maintain these platforms.
