About the opportunity

  • Standardise in-field manufacturing of composite repairs to steel structures.
  • Support the development of a globally recognised standard for bonded composite repairs to structural steel.
  • Conduct research on durability, fire resistance, design methodologies, risk mitigation, experimental validation, and inspection and monitoring techniques for composite-repaired steel structures.

About you

  • PhD in structural engineering, ideally with a specialisation in steel structures or rehabilitation and strengthening techniques or structural health monitoring.
  • Substantial research experience in designing, using, and testing fibre-reinforced polymers, as evidenced by a strong track record of peer-reviewed journal publications in high-quality journals.
  • Experience in adhesion science, particularly in the context of bonded repair technologies and interface mechanics.
  • Experience in structural health monitoring, including sensor selection, placement, system integration, and data interpretation.
  • Proven involvement in the development or application of codes of practice for structural systems, particularly ISO and Australian Standards (AS).
