The School of Social Sciences offers a rich learning and research environment spanning a number of disciplinary and interdisciplinary themes with a focus on the applied social sciences. As well as undergraduate and postgraduate programs, the School supports an active research program.
The Political Science and International Relations discipline couples a strong theoretical interest in global politics and policy, with deep specialisation in the Indo-Pacific region. It offers the Political Science and International Relations major in the Bachelor of Arts, including Honours; the Bachelor of International Relations, including Honours; the Master of International Relations; and the Master of Public Policy (Public Administration and Governance stream).
About the opportunity
- Deliver high-quality, innovative teaching in International Relations across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a strong focus on student experience, curriculum development, and graduate employability.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in International Relations or interdisciplinary areas (e.g., political geography, sociology, psychology, critical security studies), aiming for high-impact publications and securing competitive research funding.
- Service & Engagement: Actively contribute to the governance and collegial life of the School and University, engage with external stakeholders, and uphold standards in assessment, inclusion, and diversity.
About you
- PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to their discipline
- Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative teaching approaches, assessment and materials for units and courses.
- Demonstrated contribution to excellence in teaching in the area of International Relations.
- An emerging national research profile in International Relations.
- Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to team, School and wider University activities such as team and school meetings, strategic planning and program development.
