About the area
College Services at UWA provides academic administration and technical support to the University’s schools. Within this, the Technical Services team delivers discipline-specific expertise to support teaching and research across diverse fields such as animal biology, plant biology, archaeology, geography, and environmental sciences. The team is known for its commitment to high performance, compliance, and fostering a pragmatic safety culture.
About the opportunity 
- Deliver hands-on technical support across teaching and research environments
- Collaborate with academics and technical staff to optimise practical learning outcomes
- Contribute to the maintenance and safe operation of specialised equipment and instrumentation
About you 
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, with a desirable background in Applied or Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Molecular Biology - with demonstrated experience in chemical usage and safety.
- Experience in preparing reagents, developing chemical methods, and handling, maintaining, and troubleshooting lab equipment.
- Proven experience in providing technical support within teaching and research environments, including setup, maintenance, and equipment management. Previous experience in tertiary or secondary teaching spaces is advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the experience to train and support staff and students.
- Demonstrated ability to organise, set priorities, meet deadlines, work independently, multitask, and collaborate effectively within a team
Note: A current “C” class manual driver’s licence will be required by the successful applicant. The successful applicant needs to meet the physical requirements of the position. Some after-hours work may be required, including overnight or multi-day fieldwork
