  • Base salary range: $116,262 – $127,078 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Risk, Integrity, Safety and Compliance (RISC) division provides leadership in risk management, safety, compliance, and information governance across UWA. The Information Governance team ensures the University’s information is managed, protected, and used responsibly to support compliance, trust, and academic excellence.  A key focus for the next 12 months will be ensuring the University’s readiness to comply with the new WA Privacy and Information Sharing (PRIS) Act 2024, driving policy updates, stakeholder engagement and implementation of robust governance processes.

About the opportunity

  • Provide expert advice on privacy, responsible information sharing, and information governance across the entire information lifecycle.
  • Drive the further development and implementation of UWA’s Information Governance Framework, policies, and standards to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Coordinate the University’s Privacy, Responsible Information Sharing, and Freedom of Information (FOI) functions, providing expert advice and acting as FOI Decision Maker.

About you

  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in information management or possess equivalent experience, with substantial expertise in information management or governance.
  • Strong applied knowledge of domestic and international information governance legislation and policy, including privacy, records/archives, and information release.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to consult, negotiate, and build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups in complex environments.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying legislative frameworks, supporting committees, and managing decision-making processes, alongside excellent planning and organisational skills to meet competing priorities.
  • High-level proficiency in enterprise e-discovery tools, Microsoft Purview, MS Teams/SharePoint, and electronic document and records management systems, with the ability to work independently and mentor others.

Note: A current National Police Clearance Certificate will be required by the successful applicant.
