Up to £33,00 (dependent on experience)

Looking to build your career in procurement and take real ownership of spend, suppliers, and sourcing activity?

At Calor, we’re looking for a Junior Buyer to join our Procurement team, supporting the delivery of best-value procurement across our UK operations and the wider SHV Energy group. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with foundational procurement knowledge who’s ready to step up, gain hands-on experience, and develop their commercial skills in a supportive, collaborative environment.

The Role

As a Junior Buyer, you’ll work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver a professional, compliant procurement service across a defined tactical spend portfolio of £15m+. You’ll support the Senior Buyer and Head of Procurement while managing day-to-day sourcing activity across operational categories such as MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations).

This role offers real exposure to supplier negotiations, stakeholder engagement, and procurement strategy execution – ideal if you’re early in your procurement career and keen to grow.

What You’ll Be Doing

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Support procurement strategies focused on cost reduction, value creation, service continuity, quality, and risk management.

  • Run tactical sourcing activities and support supplier negotiations in line with responsible procurement practices.

  • Assist with contract negotiations and agreement execution, working with Legal where required.

  • Support supplier performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with internal teams including Material Planning and Production to align procurement with operational needs.

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across sites and functions.

  • Keep stakeholders informed on delivery dates, changes, and potential issues.

Transactional & Systems Activity

  • Create and manage purchase orders, including follow-up on non-delivered orders.

  • Maintain supplier and pricing data, catalogues, and procurement master data.

  • Support supplier onboarding and data accuracy within ERP and sourcing systems.

Performance & Improvement

  • Track KPIs, monitor order status, and support reporting requirements.

  • Contribute to team savings targets and procurement value initiatives.

  • Support market monitoring, supply risk awareness, and pricing trend analysis.

  • Get involved in wider projects that support business objectives.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Degree-educated, CIPS qualified, or equivalent with 1+ year of procurement experience.

  • Understanding of procurement activities, including tactical sourcing.

  • Experience using procurement or ERP systems, including purchase order creation.

  • Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Confident communicator, able to work with stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable

  • Experience with SAP and/or Ariba.

  • Experience using sourcing platforms such as Jaggaer.

  • Exposure to KPI tracking and order follow-up activity.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Managing a defined tactical procurement portfolio within the Senior Buyer’s scope.

  • Contributing to team-level savings and value delivery.

  • Supporting risk mitigation through effective supplier relationships.

  • Building procurement capability and stakeholder engagement across the business.

  • Being a proactive, reliable team player within Procurement and Procurement Excellence.

What We Can Offer You

  • 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
  • Private medical insurance

  • Life assurance (4x salary)

  • Matched pension contributions (4.5%, rising to 7.5% after 2 years)
