About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Leader to manage our Cylinder Distribution Centre in Exeter. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of day-to-day operations, including the management of drivers and administrative staff. The successful candidate will ensure safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of cylinder gas supplies while driving continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and motivate staff, ensuring high performance across all functions.

  • Oversee delivery schedules to optimise driver and vehicle utilisation.

  • Ensure full compliance with statutory transport and HSE requirements.

  • Maintain strict adherence to internal policies and procedures, including cash handling, stock control, and cylinder reconciliation.

  • Actively seek opportunities for operational improvement and enhanced customer satisfaction.

  • Foster a "right first time" culture with safety as a core priority.

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and compliant site operation, including fleet safety and maintenance oversight.

  • Serve as an emergency call-out key holder when required.

  • Plan and implement staff training and development, including conducting regular performance reviews.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Management CPC qualification is essential.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to align resources to meet customer needs and service level KPIs.

  • In-depth knowledge of current transport regulations and directives.

  • Extensive experience in a management or supervisory role within a service-led environment; financial acumen desirable.

  • Sound understanding of current employment legislation.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant IT systems.

  • ADR certification and/or experience with hazardous goods preferred.

  • Formal health and safety qualification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH) preferred.
