About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Behaviour Support Specialist to lead the development of progressive, evidence-based practices across our school community. This pivotal role will build staff capability and promote safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environments that support student wellbeing and engagement.

As a subject matter expert in Positive Behaviour Support, you will:

  • Identify the root causes of behavioural challenges.
  • Design and implement targeted strategies and intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with educators to embed best-practice frameworks that promote positive student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement best-practice models within a multi-tiered system of supports.
  • Manage a caseload, including:
    • Creating individualised Behaviour Support Plans.
    • Delivering direct therapeutic or behavioural interventions.
    • Collaborating with families, school staff, and external professionals.
    • Ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Design and deliver professional learning to build staff capability.
  • Contribute to strategic, school-wide initiatives and policies that promote positive behaviour and inclusion.

This role is central to shaping a proactive and responsive approach to behaviour support across the school.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in an appropriate Allied Health discipline.
  • Registration or accreditation with a relevant professional body (AHPRA).
  • Training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
  • Current National Police Check and Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain.
  • Evidence of Australian Work Rights.

Allied Health Expertise

  • Experience delivering coaching and professional development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative team culture.
  • Advanced skills in behavioural assessment, support planning, and intervention design.
  • Ability to interpret data and produce meaningful behavioural analysis reports.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and person-centred practices.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with school leadership, professionals, and families.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and evidence-based advisory.

Organisational & Strategic Thinking

  • Strong planning and coordination skills across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to align allied health services with school policies and strategic goals.
  • Experience managing transitions and developing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
