The Student Experience Branch sits within The Division of Academic and Student Engagement (DASE) and is responsible for providing services that deliver an excellent student experience. Within this branch, working under limited direction while supported by the Manager, Career Education and Industry Engagement, the International Careers Lead will develop employability initiatives and events to support our diverse cohort of international students and recent graduates to enhance their career readiness. This position will work across university departments and liaise with stakeholders from State/Federal Government, professional bodies and local and national employers to support international students seeking employment in Australia. For our Chinese graduates seeking graduate employment this role builds and develops productive relationships with employers, agencies and government bodies with a focus on the Greater China Area.
In this highly rewarding role, you will lead a small team to initiate, plan and design programs that boost the international students’ career experience and employability. This will include providing senior management with advice relating to the labour market trends across the Asia region, particularly in government policies on global talent recruitment practices, national bench marking and best practice global career development.
To be successful you will need:
- Demonstrated understanding of current practices and principles in the Asian job market including key trends in the global labour market with a focus on the Greater China Area.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, delivering and managing career development initiatives and events ideally in a higher education environment. Demonstrated experience liaising with industry partners to build and manage strategic relationships.
- Experience in event management including conception, planning, delivery and evaluation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral with the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders including students and employers.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in an outcomes focused team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.
Desirable:
- Well-developed stakeholder networks with employers, government bodies, recruitment agencies, University of Adelaide alumni and priority partner universities in Greater China Area
- Knowledge of two Asian languages, including Mandarin
