Fixed term, 0.5FTE position available for 8 months
The candidate will work with A/Professor Xiaoguang Duan on an ARC Discovery Project (DP 230102406) and contribute to developing nanostructured single atom materials from solid wastes, improving catalyst performances in advanced oxidation processes and materials yield during synthesis, conducting mechanistic studies in device-level and upscale water purification applications. The initial contract is for eight months, with the possibility of extension based on performance or the successful attainment of University or external fellowship funding (e.g., NHMRC, DECRA and new ARC fellowships.
This is an ARC-funded postdoctoral position working on developing plastic-derived functional materials for environmental catalysis.
To be successful you will need:
- Completion of PhD degree in the relevant discipline or have equivalent qualifications or research experience in Materials, Environmental and Chemical Engineering in recent five years
- Evidence of contribution towards research relevant to the single atom (SAC) materials synthesis, plastic upcycling to functional carbons, catalyst analyses, and performance test, and mechanistic studies of in advanced oxidation technologies
- Experience in contributing towards attending conference and seminars
- Experience in publications in high impact journals as first author and co-author such as Nature Communications, Advanced Materials or equivalent
- Ability to perform administrative functions in lab/group primarily connected with the area of research in plastics conversion, SAC materials, environmental catalysis
