JBI is seeking a qualified candidate for a fixed-term, full-time position available for 12 months as a Technical Development Manager. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to global leadership in evidence-based healthcare.

JBI is a global research institute based in the Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences, that promotes and supports evidence-based decisions that improve health and health service delivery. JBI offers a unique range of solutions to access, appraise and apply the best available evidence to inform decisions made at the point of care.

JBI translates and licences its research through a suite of products, including the JBI Evidence-based Practice Database, the JBI Evidence Synthesis Journal, the JBI Evidence Implementation Journal, JBI SUMARI, JBI PACES, and the JBI Training Management System for education program delivery and administration.

As Technical Development Manager, the incumbent will use their passion for the business and the digital world to translate JBI’s vision into engaging digital products. They will shape the product experience and roadmap and deliver the product strategy across all digital touch points including mobile applications, Digital Pass, electronic ticketing, CRM, websites, and other assets as required.

The Technical Development Manager will oversee those responsible for the development process and the underlying infrastructure utilised to deliver the digital package of works. This encompasses the entire process from ideation, through scoping, design, development, testing, release, and post-implementation analysis. The role will also be responsible for gathering input and requirements from other groups, including Marketing, Finance, Operations, and external stakeholders, and for working closely with them to ensure fast and effective delivery.

To be successful you will need:

  • Solid software development skills resulting in well structured, clean, documented and tested code.
  • A strong understanding of design and architecture patterns and how to apply them to bespoke web applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Use of Git (ideally Gitlab) based code repositories in a team development environment.
  • Experience in end-to-end web application development
  • Understanding of HTTP and TCP/IP network principles
  • Use of Atlassian JIRA and Confluence.
  • Relational Database experience.
  • Use of UML including Sequence, Class, State Diagrams and Entity Relationship modelling.
  • A degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Software Engineering or related areas and some relevant experience with technologies required for the role.
