Are you an experienced education specialist who thrives in project-based work? We have an exclusive role which has recently opened in our Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) Business Unit. Our next Senior Capability Development Officer will gain unmatched experience working at The University during a time of exciting growth.

Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) is a business unit of the University of Adelaide. It offers executive education programs, professional development short courses, workforce strategy and planning services, and customised education solutions to help individuals and organisations upskill for the future of work. Its team of business development, education solutions, and operations specialists support and enable the University to pursue strategic, revenue-generating educational opportunities in Australia, and internationally. PACE forms part of the Education Transformation portfolio, within the University’s Division of Academic and Student Engagement.

Working under broad direction with a degree of autonomy, the Senior Capability Development Officer will conceptualise and co-design short, medium and long-term workforce development solutions for current and prospective learners and customers. The incumbent will work closely with clients, the PACE Business Development team and subject matter experts to co-create a range of education solutions to address capability development for industry and government. Additionally, the role will contribute to the development of tender submissions in domestic and international contexts.

The Senior Capability Development Officer will be required to understand learning development needs, industry business requirements, the employee value proposition, conduct skills gaps analysis, and be able to leverage innovative pedagogies and contemporary approaches to workforce development.

To be successful you will need:

  • Experience in an organisational development, learning design, or workforce development role or similar, preferably in an education setting.
  • Knowledge of tertiary education (VET and/or higher education) policies and frameworks and ability to design education and training programs, and apply AQF aligned solutions.
  • Demonstrated high level communication, negotiation, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated track record in working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders including, industry professionals and subject matter experts.
  • Experience in the use of creative tools and techniques to facilitate design and development activities with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.
  • Experience working across multiple complex organisations with knowledge of workforce development challenges and skills gaps in a range of industries (desirable).
