A continuing opportunity for a Senior Technical Officer to join the University during an exciting period of change.

We are seeking for a Senior Technical Officer (Animal Sciences and Anatomy) with demonstrated experience in supporting anatomical teaching within the Faculty. The Senior Technical Officer, working under general direction will have responsibility for the set up of laboratory sessions, as well as the procurement, storage and maintenance of teaching materials.

The Animal Sciences and Health technical team support teaching and research activities in animal and veterinary sciences at the Roseworthy Campus. The campus is situated on a 1600 ha property that includes the working farm, Veterinary Teaching Hospital, animal holding facilities, paddocks, yards and a range of general teaching and research facilities, spaces and laboratories.

The Senior Technical Officer will prepare biological specimens and anatomical teaching models for the teaching of undergraduate veterinary anatomy. The incumbent will also maintain a catalogue of teaching/anatomy specimens and provide access to these collections through an ordering system. After 3 years of satisfactory work performance and on-the-job-training (provided to help develop your skills) this position has the potential to advance to the base salary of HEO Level 6.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in preparing biological specimens for the teaching of undergraduate veterinary anatomy.

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in embalming, dissection, prosection and use of cadaveric material in an anatomy teaching environment or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the provision of laboratory services.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating in a succinct, professional and responsive manner.
  • The desire to develop skills and experience.
