We have a secondment opportunity for an experienced Lawyer to join our Legal and Common Law Group. In this key role, you’ll provide expert legal advice, manage risk, and help us continue to support Queensland businesses and workers through a fair and effective compensation system. 

About the Role 

As a Lawyer at WorkCover, you will contribute to: 

• Delivering high-quality, timely legal advice that supports business decisions. 

• Minimising legal and commercial risks across WorkCover’s operations. 

• Overseeing common law claims strategies and high-risk claims. 

• Supporting the legal audit and performance monitoring of our legal panel. 

• Leading and advising on internal legal matters and litigation (excluding common law litigation). 

• Collaborating across teams on strategic projects and providing legal input on emerging issues. 

What You’ll Bring 

• Admission as a Legal Practitioner and eligibility to hold a Practicing Certificate. 

• Minimum 2 years’ post-admission experience in a legal role. 

• A sound understanding of statutory and common law claims management. 

• Ability to interpret and advise on relevant legal, commercial and policy matters. 

• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. 

• A proactive, values-driven approach and a commitment to excellence and integrity.
