In the spirit of self-determination this strategy will be developed in consultation with, and delivered by, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples employed in Identified positions within WorkCover.  

As a pivotal member of the team, the First Nations Senior Procurement Advisor (Indigenous Identified) supports the growth of First Nations-owned business with WorkCover’s supply chain expenditure. You are the driving force behind the implementation of the First Nations’ procurement strategy, working closely with key internal and external stakeholders, providing guidance, analysis, and consultation.  

This role will see you lead and deliver end to end procurement focused activities, project management of tenders, contract renewals, data analytics and research with alignment to organisational goals. Your expertise will guide the application of relevant procurement policies, including the Queensland Indigenous Procurement Policy, contributing to sustainable and impactful outcomes. 

A Bit About You  

  • Exhibits a robust understanding of end-to-end procurement practices, acquired through practical experience in delivering procurement initiatives in a similar role 

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait peoples, businesses, and communities  

  • Established track record of effectively leading and delivering procurement engagements and initiatives of varying spend and risk within a similar industry or environment.  

  • Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, including the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully, leveraging lived experiences to effectively guide and shape cultural capability, design and delivery of procurement related initiatives and activities  

  • Shows exemplary communication skills, adept at crafting high-quality reports, facilitating discussions with stakeholders, and fostering productive relationships within and beyond the organisation. 

As an identified position, part of this role will involve significant interaction with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their representatives across Queensland. Applicants will need to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander society.
