We are seeking an experienced and trusted Workplace Health & Safety Lead to deliver a proactive, compliant, and effective WHS function across the organisation. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Health, Safety and Environment, you will play a key role in creating a safe and secure workplace while leading a high-performing WHS and Claims team.
This hands-on leadership role provides the opportunity to influence safety culture, enhance WHS systems and programs, manage complex workers’ compensation claims, and oversee incident investigations. You will collaborate across People, Facilities, and Enterprise Risk teams to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and provide expert advice to leaders and employees
What You’ll Do
- Lead, coach, and manage the WHS and Claims team to achieve operational goals and compliance outcomes.
- Provide technical WHS advice and support to employees, leaders, and the Senior Manager HSE.
- Implement and continuously improve WHS systems, policies, procedures, and programs.
- Coordinate audits, inspections, and incident investigations, recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims, rehabilitation, and return-to-work processes.
- Conduct security and risk assessments, implementing practical controls and emergency management procedures.
- Develop reports and communications to share safety insights, performance data, and lessons learned.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement, coaching, and leadership initiatives.

About You

With a strong blend of technical expertise, sound judgement, and leadership capability, you guide your team effectively while ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
You are highly skilled in assessing risks, managing incidents, and implementing proactive WHS programs. You communicate with clarity and influence, building trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation, and excel at providing concise reports, briefings, and insights to senior management and governance bodies.
What You’ll Bring:
- Proven experience leading WHS teams and fostering professional development, collaboration, and high performance.
- Strong expertise in WHS program management, incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety analytics.
- Skilled in conducting security risk assessments and implementing controls for customer- or visitor-related safety threats.
- Experienced in emergency and crisis management, including planning, response, and post-incident reviews.
- Sound understanding of Queensland WHS legislation, codes of practice, and regulator expectations.
- Tertiary qualification in business, risk management, occupational health and safety, or a related field, with additional qualifications such as Return to Work Coordinator, Certificate IV/Diploma in WHS, or AIHS accreditation highly regarded.
- Highly developed interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to influence, advise, and guide stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to balance team priorities with compliance, safety requirements, and operational objectives.
