We’re seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to help deliver our WHS framework and foster a safe, compliant workplace. Reporting to the Workplace Health & Safety Lead, you’ll manage workers’ compensation claims, lead incident investigations and risk assessments, oversee return-to-work processes, and partner with leaders to embed safe work practices and continuous improvement—making a real impact every day.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Workplace Health & Safety Lead in implementing and improving WHS systems, policies, and procedures in line with legislation and corporate requirements.
- Manage employee workers’ compensation claims, rehabilitation, and return-to-work activities to ensure timely and compliant outcomes.
- Conduct quality incident investigations, prepare reports, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Undertake workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure effective control measures are implemented.
- Provide practical WHS advice and support to leaders and employees to enable compliance and effective risk management.
- Deliver or support WHS training and awareness initiatives to build capability and embed a culture of safety across the organisation.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Risk, Compliance, Facilities, and external stakeholders to manage WHS risks consistently and operationalise safety controls.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on safety performance metrics and incident trends to inform decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support operational emergency preparedness, including evacuation drills, lockdown procedures, and post-incident reviews.
Please note this is a maximum term 12-month contract opportunity.
About You
You’re a proactive and experienced Health & Safety professional who thrives on creating safe, compliant, and high-performing workplaces. You apply sound judgement to manage risks, interpret WHS legislation, and provide practical advice, while taking initiative to investigate incidents, analyse data, and recommend solutions. You collaborate with leaders to embed safe work practices and champion continuous improvement across the organisation.
What You’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety, risk management, business, or related field
- Return to Work Coordinator qualification, or willingness to obtain
- Postgraduate qualifications in WHS or injury management highly regarded
- Minimum five years’ experience in workplace health and safety roles, ideally in office-based or service environments
- Hands-on experience managing workers’ compensation claims, rehabilitation, and return-to-work processes
- Proven track record in incident investigations, corrective actions, risk assessments, and safety reporting
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for complex safety and injury management issues
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
