The Opportunity

WorkCover Queensland is continuing to invest in enterprise transformation and strategic project delivery, and this role exists to ensure strong financial oversight and value realisation across that portfolio. The Finance Business Partner - Projects supports the delivery of WorkCover Queensland’s project portfolio through effective financial management, control, and reporting.You’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate project financials, supporting project managers with budgeting and forecasting, and providing insights into project performance, risks, and opportunities.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with project managers and delivery teams to provide day‑to‑day financial support across the full project lifecycle.
  • Support project budgeting, forecasting and financial planning, ensuring alignment to approved business cases and funding requirements.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including tracking costs, managing variances and identifying risks early.
  • Provide clear financial reporting and insights to support decision‑making, including analysis of trends, forecasts and outcomes.
  • Apply management accounting principles to support cost control, financial governance and value delivery across projects.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure financial information is understood and supports effective delivery decisions.
  • Support project governance by maintaining accurate financial data and ensuring compliance with internal processes and controls.
  • Use strong Excel and data analysis skills to manage financial information and translate it into actionable insights.

About You

  • At least 2+ years’ experience in management accounting, financial analysis or project finance roles.
  • Experience in finance business partnering, ideally supporting projects or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of project management concepts, with familiarity with methodologies such as PRINCE2 or similar.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and translate them into meaningful insights.
  • Proven experience working autonomously, managing competing priorities while delivering high‑quality outcomes.
  • Experience working in complex environments, with the resilience to engage and influence challenging stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clear financial advice and communicate insights to both finance and non‑finance audiences.
  • Consulting or Big 4 background, or experience working in a professional services environment (highly regarded).
