We are looking for an intern to work on advanced cleaning and nano-particle transport and removal technology for Slider Processing. The internship is located at Seagate's R&D site in Bloomington, MN reporting to the Senior Manager.
As a member of the Advanced Cleaning & Inspection team, you will work with industry-leading technology, and will help with the research, development, and design lab-scale and pilot-scale cleaning technology and systems.
Internship responsibilities include:
- Develop test platform and modeling to study fundamentals of CO2 cleaning;
- Establish transfer functions of process variables (fixturing, chemisty, etc) and CO2 cleaning performance;
- Develop inspection techniques for characterizing cleaning performance using a variety of metrology techniques which may include AFM, SEM, interferometry, and optical
- Lab-scale system setup to test tooling and individual part cleaning feasibility.
Interns typically work Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm. The hours are subject to change with or without notice at the sole discretion of Seagate.
Qualifications
Requirements:- Candidates in their B.S. program, in Chemistry, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Some instrumentation experience.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience or academic background in CO2 cleaning, or particle transport & removal.
- Hands-on experience with data acquisition & automation.
- Proficiency in MS software and statistical applications such as MiniTAB or JMP.
- Statistical modeling experience a plus.
- Previous experience with AFM, SEM, wet-lab instruments
