High Purity / Waste Water Technician - B Shift

Seagate is searching for a facilities operations and maintenance technician for B Shift. The technician operates and maintains industrial waste-water treatment and high purity water production equipment and supports general facilities operations. This position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Manager and will support Seagate's Bloomington, MN operations – a 700,000 square foot, highly technical facility, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform work including operation and maintenance of the high purity water (HPW) and wastewater (WW) treatment systems, tool install and de-install, office moves, general work orders, snow removal, and other facility duties as required.
  • Coordinate with lead, management, project managers, engineers, contractors and other personnel in order to understand and effectively complete assigned work.
  • Read and interpret meters, gauges, and instruments for required system checks, accurately record results, and brings up issues to lead and/or management.
  • Understand and respond appropriately to building management system alarms.
  • Operate HPW and WW treatment system independently for entire shift.
  • Proactively contribute to other facility requirements when possible.
  • Ensure high purity water is available for customers and meets required quality levels.
  • Ensures waste water systems are meeting discharge requirements.
  • Obtain water samples and conduct waste water analysis with atomic absorption (AA) equipment.
  • Adhere to all environmental and safety rules and regulations.

This B Shift Technician position typically works Monday through Wednesday and every other Thursday, 12 hours from 6pm to 6am. The hours are subject to change with or without notice at the sole discretion of Seagate. 

 Requirements:
  • Technical Associate degree or equivalent training required.
  • Three years' experience in various positions within a water / wastewater treatment environment with knowledge of treatment standards, codes and regulation, methods and principles and practices of operating, maintaining and repairing water treatment plant equipment, instrumentation and associated systems.
  • Knowledge of handling hazardous materials and emergency response protocols.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow processes.
  • Ability to recognize and react to treatment process changes and demands.
  • Effective written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills in order to work closely with site management, engineering, staff and others.
  • Able to respond to emergency calls and work 12 hour shifts and holidays as required.
  • Requires the ability to work B Shift, Monday through Wednesday and every other Thursday, 12 hours from 6pm to 6am.
