Senior Data Engineer

The Opportunity

As part of the Data and Analytics team, the Senior Data Engineer supports and focuses on the delivery of advance analytics which include AI/ML capabilities.  Working closely with our operations and commercial teams, and external stakeholders you will improve our major value chains which include customer, route planning opitmisation, sales, pricing and contribute to an organisation which is data driven. 

 

About You

You are results driven with a curiosity and eagerness to learn quickly about our business and technologies.  You will not shy away from challenging prevailing assumptions and confident to suggest enhanced approaches and solutions.  Holding a passion for data and analytics you will also be a strong communicator; you will be able to articulate complex concepts to all levels of stakeholders throughout the business. 

To ensure your success in this role, you will also hold:

  • A Post-graduate qualification in a software or quantitative analysis discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics).
  • Solid expertise in data sourcing, transformation, and publication of data from multiple source systems through an enterprise data model.
  • Proficiency in engineering analytical solutions on large scale, cloud-based data platforms, with expertise in SQL, ELT approaches, dimensional modelling, and BI development (dashboards and reports).
  • Prior experience with Python/PySpark Frameworks
  • Delivery of quality solutions on time using best practices for automated testing, documentation, Azure DevOps services Git and Azure pipelines
  • Prior demonstrated experience in Azure, Snowflake, Power BI (incl tabular modelling), and Python, or comparable technologies
  • Liaising and engaging with Cloud Engineering & IT Security teams
  • Exposure to advanced analytical techniques and how they might shape underlying data solutions
