Resource Recovery Officer

The Opportunity

Join Cleanaway’s Centre for Sustainability (C4S) to work with our customers to reach their Sustainability Goals, increase landfill diversion, and highlight Resource Recovery opportunities.

Reporting to the Senior Education Officer within the Municipal arm of C4S and based at Peakhurst, you will be involved in stakeholder engagement, waste education, auditing, conducting site assessments, and more. You will also be responsible for conducting education and engagement activities to increase participation in waste reduction and resource recovery within households and businesses. This role is a 9-month fixed term maternity leave contract with a view to further extension.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Deliver a range of waste audit activities for residents including methodology development and reporting.
  • Improve resource recovery outcomes through planned delivery resulting in increased diversion and contamination reduction.
  • Evaluate and optimize waste diversion strategies to maximize resource recovery.
  • Prepare detailed reports on resource recovery program performance within the designated timeframes.
  • Liaise with building and strata managers to ensure the correct use of their waste bins within their dwellings.
  • Liaise with Council staff members and Cleanaway operations staff to identify residents’ educational needs.
  • Respond to contamination management requests from the Council.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or other relevant fields are required.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can effectively prioritise tasks.
  • Tech savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
