Driver Academy for Women

  • Location: Hobart, TAS
  • Start date March 2025

  • 5-day work week, Mon- Fri
  • 3am-6am start time
  • Public holidays and overtime
  • Occasional weekend work
  • No heavy vehicle driving experience required
  • No previous work experience required
  • Paid training and coaching provided
  • Must hold current unrestricted drivers’ licence for a minimum of 24 months

The Role

Based at our Hobart location we are seeking women who are aspiring to be, or who are already a HR Licensed driver, to join our team and serve our local community as part of the Container Refund Scheme.

As a HR Driver you will be responsible for:

  • Rear Lift collection vehicle.
  • Performing loading and unloading duties of recycling
  • Delivering loads to nominated recycling and disposals facilities
  • Ensuring high levels of customer service and satisfaction
  • Maintaining presentation of the vehicle, inside and out
  • Comfortable with a high level of manual handling

What is in it for you?

As part of closing the gender gap of drivers in the waste management industry, Cleanaway is running a Driver Academy for Women to address substantive equality for female identifying or non-binary persons in the industry by removing some of the barriers preventing them from getting involved. Cleanaway is seeking women to participate in an intensive training program which includes licencing and other training required to set you up to be a HR licenced truck driver, followed by ongoing learning for the next 12 months.

 

Paid 5-week training program will include:

  • Obtain Heavy Vehicle Licence (HR)
  • Uniforms and PPE
  • Induction to Cleanaway
  • Training program to become a driver
  • In cab coaching
  • Practical driver training
  • Buddy driver program

 

To be part of the program

  • Hold a current unrestricted driver’s licence for a minimum of 24 months
  • Driving History Check with a minimum of 8 demerit points remaining
  • No heavy vehicle driving experience required
  • Passionate about working as a team
  • Excellent customer service ethic
  • Commitment to safety and willingness to learn and work as part of a team
  • Resilient attitude
