Driver Academy for Women

               Location: Queanbeyan

    • Start date March 2025
    • Program tailored for women, female identifying and non-binary persons
    • 5-day work week, Mon- Fri
    • 7am start time
    • Public holidays and overtime may be available
    • Occasional weekend work
    • No heavy vehicle driving experience required
    • No previous work experience required
    • Paid training and coaching provided
    • Must hold current unrestricted drivers’ licence for a minimum of 24 months

    The Role

    This role will require you to service multiple customer sites. Your role includes collecting liquid waste into a rigid tanker truck and transporting to our disposal plant for recycling.  Due to the physical nature of the role, candidates must be comfortable performing manual handling and heavy lifting. 

    You will be working with a safe, modern and reliable fleet. You will be required to operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with company regulations, complete all paperwork and records accurately. Must be willing to take a Pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol test. 

    As a HR Driver you will be responsible for:

    • Collection vehicle.
    • Performing loading and unloading duties of waste product
    • Delivering loads to nominated disposals facilities
    • Ensuring high levels of customer service and satisfaction
    • Maintaining presentation of the vehicle, inside and out
    • Comfortable with a high level of manual handling

    What is in it for you?

    As part of closing the gender gap of drivers in the waste management industry, Cleanaway is running a Driver Academy for Women to address substantive equality for female identifying or non-binary persons in the industry by removing some of the barriers preventing them from getting involved. Cleanaway is seeking women to participate in an intensive training program which includes licencing and other training required to set you up to be a HR licenced truck driver, followed by ongoing learning for the next 12 months.

     

    Paid 5-week training program will include:

    • Obtain Heavy Vehicle Licence (HR)
    • Uniforms and PPE
    • Induction to Cleanaway
    • Training program to become a driver
    • In cab coaching
    • Practical driver training
    • Buddy driver program

     

    To be part of the program

    • Hold a current unrestricted driver’s licence for a minimum of 24 months
    • Driving History Check with a minimum of 8 demerit points remaining
    • No heavy vehicle driving experience required
    • Passionate about working as a team
    • Excellent customer service ethic
    • Commitment to safety and willingness to learn and work as part of a team
