LFG Engineer – The Opportunity

Join Cleanaway as our new LFG (Landfill Gas) Engineer and take on the responsibility of monitoring, maintaining, and optimising landfill gas and leachate systems across our facilities. This is your chance to make a direct impact on environmental compliance while driving operational excellence.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

In this hands-on role, you'll be the go-to person for ensuring our landfill gas and leachate systems are running smoothly, safely, and sustainably. Your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Monitoring landfill gas collection systems, including extraction wells and utilisation equipment.
  • Conducting leachate level measurements and sampling for regulatory analysis.
  • Performing routine maintenance to ensure peak performance of gas and leachate systems.
  • Keeping detailed records, preparing reports, and supporting regulatory submissions.
  • Working with contractors and internal teams to roll out upgrades and system improvements.
  • Making sure everything aligns with Cleanaway’s environmental and safety standards.

 

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who thrives in the field and enjoys solving real-world challenges. Ideally, you’ll have:

 

  • Experience in landfill gas systems, leachate management, or related piping operations.
  • Strong technical know-how, particularly in gas collection and destruction systems such as flares.
  • A solid understanding of environmental regulations relevant to landfill operations.
  • A keen eye for detail, great problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant tools.
