The Opportunity
Our Liquid Technical Services team supports the collection, treatment, processing, and recycling of liquid and hazardous waste. As the chemist in our team based in Karratha, you are primarily responsible for processing various waste chemical streams including treatment, consolidation, and repackaging. Additionally, you will also be responsible for
- Offer technical support and guidance for the acceptance, treatment, and storage of liquid and technical waste.
- Provide technical and analytical support sales team and external customers.
- Assist plant manager with waste management and production.
- Run treatability trials, select treatment methods and verify their suitability, ensuring that wastes can be treated profitably.
- Comply and liaise with relevant authorities based where necessary.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity comprising a $ 600-a-week regional allowance with a yearly salary of $80,000 inclusive of superannuation.
About You
Detail-oriented, you thrive in solving problems and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment. Ideally you will hold operational experience working with waste or hazardous chemicals.
- Degree in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Sound experience working with waste or hazardous chemicals
- Previous experience in wastewater treatment facilities or chemical fixation and stabilization facilities
- Field sampling or laboratory experience
- Sound knowledge in operating/calibrating ICP and Laboratory instruments
- Experience with Risk assessments and work instructions
- Meticulous record-keeping skills per tightly regulated controlled waste environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of chemicals and applicable legislation relating to their use, storage and disposal
