The Opportunity
We have an excellent opportunity for a Process Safety Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering Planning & Support Manager, you will be responsible for process safety across our operational network and project portfolio in the hazardous waste businesses. This role ensures that our facilities mature in their process safety journey, that our change management is appropriate, that incident metrics and investigations are handled appropriately, and that projects have adequate hazard studies and process safety controls.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Work with project managers and engineers to conduct HAZID, HAZOP, PSSR and other PSM tools through the project lifecycle
- Facilitate communication between operations, engineering and HSE functions relating to PSM
- Conduct incident investigations for process safety events and ensure reporting is in line with corporate standards
- In conjunction with others, undertake risk reviews of projects to prioritise risk mitigation activities
- Prepare regular reports on operational metrics, including leading & lagging indicators adapted from API754
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools and reporting methods to enhance our process safety management
- Provide insights into potential risks, opportunities and corrective actions for our operating plants
About You
You are passionate about operational safety with a technical and curious mindset, who enjoys solving problems within a collaborative team. Your ability to ask the tough questions and critical thinking will ensure your success in the role. Furthermore, you will also possess.
- A Tertiary qualification in Engineering
- Experience in both operations and projects for hazardous process industries and/or MHF
- Hands-on expertise in change management, HAZOP, PSSR and safe operating envelopes
- Experience with assessing operational risks being addressed by projects and programs of work
- Knowledge of dangerous goods and hazardous areas
- Experience in presenting findings, building and influencing business cases
